ROCKET LAUNCHER

Big Earl, as the URL-6T is known, is a fearsome weapon, especially if you need a door. It fires 15cm long rockets, six to a clip, in either homing mode (which requires a 2.75s lock-on time) or in dumb-fire mode, which has a 2s cycle time. Both modes utilize the built-in, always-on IR sensor which grants those lucky enough to control Big Earl the ability to see life forms through walls and such. It's not recommended for use as a close-quarters weapon; blast shockwaves are indiscriminate in whom they may hit. You'll find this weapon is not used very often by opposition that you may encounter throughout the game and is rarely something to fear when you're on the wrong end of the stick (side that goes boom) of the badboy.

  • Primary Fire: Fires a dumb rocket once every 2 seconds.
  • Alternate Fire: Hold for 2.75 seconds with a target within site to engage homing mode, once locked onto a target you may release for a homing missile shot. Release before you have obtained a lock and the rocket will fire dumb.
  • Pros: Excellent tool for geo-modding and checking to make sure the path ahead is clear of any enemies via the IR scope.
  • Cons: Rockets are completely ineffective against armored foes, so using it as an actual weapon through the second half of the game against the mercenary force is highly discouraged. Lock-on also takes quite a bit of time to establish and will not lock through obstacles, which is kind of strange since the launcher itself is able to see through walls. No atuo-aim in the PS2 version.
  • Recommendation: An excellent tool for geo-modding, but not all that an effecive of an actual weapon in play. Debris and blasts aren't as lethal to enemies as you might expect so it makes using it a bit prohibitive.
