SUB MACHINE GUN
 |
Although it's a slightly larger, heavier, and less accurate weapon than the Pistol, the SMG is capable of fully automatic fire with both standard 12mm bulets as well as 5.56mm high velocity armor piercing bullets. During the game you'll often find this particular weapon being wielded by Ultor's elite guard who seem content on showering you with lead at close quarters while relying on their body armor to keep them safe from your counter attacks. The SMG secures its place in the arsenal by being a solid close range weapon somewhere between the Shotgun and the Assault Rifle. There are better choices for general warfare, but it's probably the best fallback weapon in there. |
- Primary Fire: Fires rounds in a fully automatic fashion.
- Alternate Fire: Toggles between 12mm bullets in a 30 round magazine or 5.56mm high velocity armor piercing bullets in a 20 round mag.
- Pros: Disperses bullets furiously and has functioning auto-aim in the PS2 version. It's armor piercing bullets also do well to penetrate the armor of mercs and Ultor's elite guard at close range as well as taking out turrets and robots (though not as effectively as the Assault Rifle).
- Cons: Bullet spread is too wide and the weapon becomes very ineffective at even a moderate distance.
- Recommendation: Not to be used in place of the Precision or Assault Rifles, but it still has it's place as a fall back weapon as ammo for it is plentiful during the middle to latter half of the game. You'll find the shotgun to be a far more effective weapon at closer ranges though.
