SOUND/MUSIC

Q: What's the music like?
-It's ambient dynamic stuff. Pretty cool in general. The game features a rocking soundtrack of several completely original pieces, most of which are a weird fusion of techno and butt rock. The music does a great job of setting the mood for the game, and music will change depending on the area and scenario you're currently in. It can be a bit moody and atmospheric at times though and you don't really notice it for a lot of the game. Nothing that stands out, but also nothing terribly bad or even annoying.

Q: Who's doing the music in Red Faction?
-Dan Wentz is the sound/music guy on Red Faction.
top

Q: Will there be subtitles in the game?
-Yes, but they will be optional.
top

Q: Will the subtitles apply not only to speech, but also to grunts, pain sounds, and various other small sounds?
-No.
top

Q: Will Red Faction support A3D?
-We've supported A3D in the past (Freespace and Freespace 2), and I expect we'll continue at least the level of support we had in the past. With the state of Aureal, it's unlikely we'll try to use the new features in A3D 3.0 (e.g., aural wave tracing) however.

Q: What are the sound effects like?
-The sound effects in Red Faction are particularly cool. The bullet impacts, ricochets, footsteps, weapon, and vehicle sounds are all killer.
top

Q: Do ejected casings make sound as they hit the ground?
-Yes.
top

Q: Will the PS2 version support 5.1 surround sound?
-No, the PS2 is incapable of playing 5.1 surround sound in-game. There will be mono and stereo choices.
top

Q: Can I download any of the music?
-Yes, we have a variety of pieces to choose from in our
Downloads Section.
top

Q: Do all of the guards and such have their own voices?
-A lot of the average characters that populate the world share voices, which can get a bit repetitive at times.
top

Q: Are all the voice actors in-house? If not, any big wigs that we may recognize from other games/movies/cartoons?
-None of them are in-house. They're all professional voice actors based in Chicago. They're the people you hear in TV commercial voiceovers. We audition lots of people for the voice parts in the game. Once we have our final cast, we go up to Chicago for a couple of days and record all the voices in the game. I don't think you'll recognize any of the people; we've had mixed results in the past with hiring known names for voice acting.
