Some info about Dark Chrome
The first question would probably be:
Why, oh why?!
Because about 80% of the team are fans of Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. RPG and William
Gibson and this world has not been well translated into a computer game, we have
decided to change that unpleasant situation. Obviously we have seen the games
available on market but for us none of them gives the player the atmosphere of
Cyberpunk.
We are aware of the fact that this task might be like attacking cyber psycho
with a water-pistol but we hope that we will cope with it and we will create a
mod that is equally good or even better than the best games available at the
moment and the future generations will carve our faces in Mount Rushmore.
The development of the mod we have in minds is to turn it into Total
Conversion and eventually into a separate game. And then we will force Microsoft
out of the market and finally rule the entire galaxy!!!
Let's finally get to the point!
So what exactly can a player expect from the mod? Well, all the good stuff -
many weapons, vehicles, implants and equipment known from the Cyberpunk world.
The weapons variety will include flash, stunning, frag, EMP and smoke grenades,
light and heavy automatics, pump guns, heavy firearms and melee weapons. In
cybernetics department you can expect some cyber eyes, endoskeletons, hypodermic
armors, reflex boosters and our all time favorites - the weapon interfaces. We
don't know if we should even mention some obvious gizmos like night vision
goggles, thermo vision, bulletproof vests. The vehicles will include bikes and
cars. There is a good possibility that we will make some flying machines. But
for now they will probably be the decorations. if you want to fly them - put
some pressure on Moose. There will be obviously a possibility of traveling
without moving - we will push you some psycho stimulating substances. They are
pharmaceutical corporations' answer to implants - they will include reflex
boosters, painkillers and rapid healing substances. You can expect also good old
amphetamine (at the moment the crew is doing some field research on this subject).
The vital element of the mod will be elements of RPG such as characteristics and
skills, that will reflect your abilities and enable you to develop them during
the game. For the lazy players we will prepare some ready-to-use characters. The
more ambitious individuals will be able to create their own unique cyberpunks.
As you probably have already guessed the characteristics will have the vital
impact on how your character behaves. So if your reflex characteristic will be 1
you can have serious problem with walking and chewing gum simultaneously.
All the maps will reflect the vision we all know and love - acid rains,
omnipresent dirt, slums and poverty and on the other hand the sterile world of
corporation buildings.
We will try to keep the physiological aspects of the game as real as possible.
The character can be poisoned, stunned or blinded. And if you get shot you will
hurt, bleed and most likely - die. Of course you can achieve better life through
chemistry and technology - you can use painkillers, anti-dazzlers and some more
goodies.
Now back to our software.
For starters we will have standard game types - deathmatch, team deathmatch and
CTF and others. If we get some other wise idea we will obviously implement it.
